April Projects

Welcome back to our cozy little corner of the internet, friends! I’m so glad you’re here–it’s been a busy month at Brooke MT Interiors (we may have missed a bi-weekly blog post 😅 but we’re back!). Let’s catch up!

Currently, I’m working on the finishing touches on a few projects, which means I’m also in the onboarding process for new clients! This last year, I’ve actually declined over 85% of inquiries and have been extremely particular with what projects I take on, so I can prioritize spending time with my children and family.

Last weekend we ventured back to my hometown of Colfax, Iowa for my kids to hang out with their cousins! We had the best weekend with family. If you’ve ever been to Iowa, you know this time of year is prime morel mushroom hunting season! Yes, we “hunt” for mushrooms here. And yes, we eat them, too (don’t knock it til you try it 😂)!

We spent the weekend mushroom/fairy hunting, built a bird house, and caught some salamanders and frogs (don’t worry, we let them go). We had the best weekend, but it always goes by way too fast. Back to reality it is!

Now that we’re back to reality, here’s what I’ve been up to:

The past couple of weeks I’ve had my focus on Quincy Road, Carmel Valley, and Ellis Mill road.

Quincy Road

We are almost at the home stretch on this project! 🙌🏼 Currently, we’re in round two of countertop templating, along with finalizing the beam stains for the main living and kitchen. We’ve ordered samples of the limewash that will go in the powder room and we’re so excited to see them! We’re also exploring exterior paint colors for the brick. We’re really trucking along and ideally, we’ll be complete in late June. There’s so many rooms in this project that I can’t really pick a favorite, but here’s a little glimpse at our progress!

Carmel Valley

Another project I’ve been focused on is Carmel Valley! This client has *impeccable* taste and I’m SO excited to see where it goes. My brain is swirling with all the ideas and possibilities–I’m working on finalizing them on paper for our Design Presentation in late May. At the moment, we are looking over exterior materiality and awaiting the final photo-realistic 3D renderings. Here’s more photos of the PRELIMINARY renderings for the laundry, and then we’ll get to move on to the other interior design concepts, materiality, and photo-realistic renderings and boy, I cannot wait!!

Ellis Mill Road

At Ellis Mill Road I’ve built up the kitchen in 3D and we are awaiting the client meeting with the cabinetry maker to make any additional revisions to the kitchen. The walk-through pantry is a personal favorite of mine! It’s stunning, yet functional–everything you could need/want in a pantry. The next rooms I’ll dive into are the foyer and main living. I’m currently in the midst of gathering final inspiration and trying to lay out all the ideas for the Design Presentation–one of my absolute fave parts of the design process!

Other Projects

Here’s a few other projects I’m working on:

  • My mother-in-law’s kitchen is wrapping up! We gave their kitchen additional cabinetry to the ceiling, new countertops, backsplash, hardware, and hood. The before and after is SO fun–I’m obsessed.

  • I’m also finalizing the 430 Auburn Ridge Parade House with Dwell Home Furnishings. I went to their gorgeous showroom and selected the furnishings I want to use. Once it’s staged, I’ll style it and get it professionally photographed. This is one of the first FULL projects from Brooke MT Interiors and we can’t wait to see the finished result!

This past week, I also got the opportunity to speak at Kirkwood Community College to the residential design students (classes 1 and 2). It’s a total full-circle moment for me because that’s where I went to school! It’s truly crazy how life works. We covered all things about my journey from the beginning to getting to where I am now. You can find more of the presentation on my subscription content on Instagram!

Whew–we covered a lot 😳 I told you we’ve been busy!

Thanks for catching up with me–I can’t wait to continue showing you all the amazing projects we’ve got in the works 🤍 See you next time!

XO
